Choosing the right browser to have the Internet deliver you what you need to access is important. Most people go with what is available ot they may have a personal preference. The Library computers are equipped with Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
Chrome: Integrated into Canvas, easy way to toggle between functions, Gmail and Drive are accessible thorough one sign in, work completed in Docs, Sheets, or Slides is automatically saved in your Drive and is accessible from anywhere.
Firefox: It's all about the plugins. The Library computers under the stairs have extensions available right in the toolbar to help you complete your work easier.
-Grammarly: Alerts you of grammar and spelling mistakes in work done through the browser.
-Pocket: Pocket is a free service that makes it easy to discover great content that’s personalized to your interests, and save this content so you can return to it later
-Dictionary: Looks up the meaning of the highlighted word and displays the definition when you right click on it and select "Define..."
-Zotero: Zotero is a tool used to store content for later citation and usage. Supported formats include links, images, pdfs, and other media. You can export your library to create an easy bibliography.
-Nimbus: Capture the whole web page, a part of it or the whole browser window, edit your screenshots in a very user-friendly interface and save the images to Google Drive.
Its a good idea to download apps, extentions or programs to your personal device to make your time in college easier. College takes time and it takes work! Having these little helpers in your life will save you time and stress, letting you focus on working efficiently- I promise.
Some of the computers in the Library are equipped with Firefox extensions listed to the right. I would encourage you to place them out your device/ computer as well, particularly Zotero.
