Sanctuary City, Sanctuary Neighborhood, above, is a more recent mural, dedicated in 2019. The mural, located at 5th & Huntingdon Streets in North Philly, bears witness to Philadelphia's status as a sanctuary city, meaning that city authorities limit their cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE. It also honors the Latinx communities who make up a large portion of modern immigrants to the US. Everyone, regardless of immigration or citizenship status, has certain rights under the Constitution and the law.
If you know your rights, you'll know what options are available if you are approached by law enforcement or immigration officials, or if you witness immigration enforcement being carried out against someone else.
