Google Hangouts is best suited for small, informal gatherings. While up to 150 people can join a text-based group chat, only 10 people can participate in a video chat at a time.
Unlike Google Hangouts, Google Meet was designed for businesses and was originally a paid feature. However, as of April 2020, a free version is now available for all users. Up to 100 people can join a 60-minute video call.
