Poetry Contest: 2016 Winners

Guidelines for the annual Poetry Contest at Manor College

Love is...

Love is the song of the morning
Glistening through the stream of yester-night’s eve
On the glass And towards the window
The dove floats like a lily pad
Love is speaking
On the earth to which your heart’s
Divine nature
Eats away from the arterial sclerosis
Of my public attorney
Love is ugly
It’s pudgy It’s buckwheat It’s fat
Love is high It is nigh
It is far It is wide
Love is what Love is who Love is where
And love sure isn’t you
So don’t love
What’s not to be?
Only for once
Think about me

If I had chosen the latter I wouldn't be this different.
If I had said yes I wouldn't be where I am.
If I had resisted my feelings I wouldn't have gotten hurt.
If I had broken the rules I wouldn't have saved myself.
If I had denied you I wouldn't have cried.
If I had said no I wouldn't have this silver lining.
If I had not said those words I wouldn't have lost those friends.
If I had not listened I wouldn't be so confused.
If I had made a single, different decision I wouldn't be who I am today.
This is who I am this is who I am this is who I am today.
Who will I be tomorrow?
