Open Educational Resources: Library Resources

Free web and electronic collections, books, journals, teaching materials, and other resources.

Library Course Reserves

Many required print texts are on reserve in the Library. These are located behind the circulation desk, retrieved by a member of the library staff, and can only be used in the Library for a 2 hour period. Students are welcome to reproduce certain pages of the texts, within fair use, to be used for course work. Faculty are welcome to suggest purchase or provide a copy of materials to be placed on reserve. Please inform your students if you have placed materials on reserve. A list of items currently on reserve can be found here.

"OER are teaching, learning, and research resources that reside in the public domain or have been released under an intellectual property license that permits their free use and re-purposing by others. Open educational resources include full courses, course materials, modules, textbooks, streaming videos, tests, software, and any other tools, materials, or techniques used to support access to knowledge."

- The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation

Multilingual OERs

Open resources are global. Many items are published in English or there is often an English language option or setting on the site. Chrome browser allows you to translate a webpage if it is written in a different language, but you should take these automatic translations with a grain of salt.
