Podcasts and Streaming Audio: Literature

There is a theme to each Selected Shorts episode and performance. Several stories are presented around each theme. The stories are always fiction, sometimes classic, sometimes new, always performed by great actors from stage, screen and television who bring these short stories to life. Evenings are often co-hosted by writers, literary producers, and other interesting characters. The radio show is recorded live at the popular New York City stage show which began in 1985 and still enjoys sell-out audiences today at the Peter Sharp Theater at Symphony Space on Broadway and 95th Street in New York City.

Librarians Rhonda Evans and Frank Collerius are the hosts of "the New York Public Library's podcast about books, culture, and what to read next." Every other week, this knowledgeable and lively duo (occasionally joined by a special guest or two) meets to talk about what they have been reading lately.

Vanessa Zoltan was a student at Harvard Divinity School when she came up with the idea of reading a popular book series as if it were a traditional sacred text. Vanessa and her co-host Casper ter Kuile have been going chapter-by-chapter through the Harry Potter series since 2016, connecting each chapter with a moral theme, such as generosity, frustration, or redemption. Along the way, they use time-honored spiritual practices like lectio divina to find meaning in the text.
